How to support students of color this Tuesday I give
SACRAMENTO, Calif. (KTXL) – Endless shopping is what Black Friday, Small Business Saturday, and Cyber Monday are all about.
But there is a way to spend money this time of year and not buy things for people who maybe already have enough.
The Tuesday after Thanksgiving has become Giving Tuesday, a time when people give generously to nonprofits.
Umoja Community Education Foundation is a statewide effort based in Sacramento, which provides support to students of color and helps them send them to 60 different campuses.
“It means these campuses are more diverse. This means that these campuses have the opportunity to ensure that they populate the workforce of students who have been trained by caring professors, who are experts in their field and this is really important to us ” , said Dominique Beaumont. “We want to create a mentoring circle. We want to make sure that our students are able to receive resources so that they, in turn, can give back. “
